Fish Family News

Sorry for the lack of updates, one day ....

All...

The Fish Class has lost a beloved member. Mrs. Katherine Hankins, wife of "Bobby" Hankins, died Sunday, September 23.

Most of you will recall that Mrs. Hankins showed up every year at Mobile Yacht Club for the Bobby Hankins Memorial Regatta, sailed by the Fish Class at Summer Regatta. I don't know all the stories, other folks can tell you those, but I do know Mrs. Hankins was beloved by all that met her, myself included.

She will be missed. Greatly.

Fair winds Mrs. Hankins.

Mobile Paper Obituary

The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. Graveside services and entombment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Pine Crest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Theodore.

Worlds 2011

This year was truly a 'World' Championship as we had a skipper come all the way from Norway to Mobile Bay just to sail with us!! (as well as a team from Elberta ;o).

Results of the 2011 Fish Class World Championship:

In 1st place - Lars Ingeberg from Norway sailing #8 with his crew Stuart McMillan from Pensacola.

Lars knew of Fish from way back years ago when he was here in the USA working, and from sailing with George Rogers on Heavy Metal. Lars intended to have crew with him from Norway, but one had an emergency and one got stuck in the mountains! in the snow! and couldn't get to the airport. Thanks Stuart, for stepping in to crew.

2nd: Denny Blume in #27 with Steve McGonigal & David Johnson
3rd: Mark Caraher in #7 with AB Reasonover
4th: Louise Douglas in #1 with Steve Lange & Josh Deupree
5th: Blan Page in #5 with Andrew Brennan & Mark Magee
6th: Ken Hutson in #25 with David Leggett

Wonderful weather...well, except for that no wind thing on Saturday and the dying breeze early Sunday afternoon. A good time was had by all, as usual.

If you're not around to watch this race at the Bucc, you really miss out on some fine, fiercely competitive sailing. Once again, there was a three way tie for first going into the last race on Sunday. This has happened in the Fish Class at the last three regattas we have attended.

Congratulations to Lars and Stuart! The Fish Class really enjoyed hosting you and hope to see you back again soon!
